The beginning or the ending?

What beautiful days we’ve been having. I’m writing this on Sunday, January 25th. Yesterday and today were warm with blue skies. Tomorrow looks like it will be more of the same. I want to think that spring is coming, but it’s much too early for that. By Wednesday, it looks like we’ll be back to our normal Akita winter.

One more thing that reminds me of spring, I’ve been saying good-bye to my 6th grade students. Every school I go to is at the end of their English program, so it’s my last time to see the kids. They give me cards and letters thanking me, I tell them good luck in Jr. High.

The final lesson in their textbook is “I want to be . . .” They tell me their dream for the future, and I tell them my dream for them. So this week, I’ve been handing out “Book MARKS” to the students. My dream for them. Here is a picture.

In English, a graduation ceremony is called a commencement.  It means a beginning.  Even though is is a little early, I hope all of my students have a great new beginning
