Hi , I´m Mark Jones.
私は南太平洋のサモアで生まれ、アメリカのユタ州で育ちました。故郷は山に囲まれていてとてもきれいな所ですが、私はずっと海に憧れていました。秋田には海も山もあり、温泉、おいしい食べ物、すばらしい人々など、私の大好きなものがたくさんあります。
私が自分の家族（父母と9人の兄弟姉妹）から離れ、秋田に初めて来たのは19歳の時でした。生活に慣れるのはとても大変でしたが、しばらく経つうち私は自分にとって外国である秋田を故郷のように感じるようになりました。秋田の人と結婚し、3人の子どももでき、秋田で育てました。
今では、実家のあるアメリカに帰ってもすごく楽しいけれど、やはり自分の家庭がある秋田に戻るとホッとします。今、私は自身のルーツであるアメリカのスパイスをちょっと効かせながら、秋田での毎日の生活を楽しんでいるところです。
ABOUT ME
I love Akita! I was born in Samoa, and raised in Utah. It’s a beautiful place, but I’ve always loved the ocean. Akita has everything I love, mountains, ocean, hot springs, delicious food, and wonderful people.
I first came here when I was 19. Leaving my family (10 brothers and sisters), was hard for me, but I soon felt at home here in this foreign place. I married an “Akita Bijin”, and have raised 3 children here.
Now, whenever I visit my family in America, it’s nice, but I’m always glad to come back “HOME” to Akita. I’ve spent most of my life here enjoying the nature, food and festivals of Akita, while hopefully giving back a little taste of America.
